When choosing a new string for a traditional bow if you don't know the length of your bow string a good rule of thumb is that longbows take a string 3" shorter than they're AMO length marked on the limb and a recurve takes a 4" shorter bowstring than the AMO length written on the bow limb. For an example a 50# 66"AMO Recurve bow would require a 62" string..
